Teen with Severe Gluten Allergy uses THIS for Pain Relief

For 15 year old Mary-Kate, her Gluten allergy prevents her from being able to use pain relievers such as Ibuprofen when she experiences pain and cramps from Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Looking for a Gluten free product safe for her to use to relieve her cramps and other symptoms, Mary-Kate turned to SkinCatering’s all-natural SkinCare product, ‘Iron Maiden‘.

According to the Mayo Clinic, more than 3 Million people in the United States alone are told they have a Gluten allergy each year. This is an allergy that is not curable and can last a life-time. You really don’t realize how many things you consume or use each and every day that contain Gluten until you can no longer consume it. There are also substances that may make symptoms of Gluten intolerance worse, such as anti-inflammatories and pain relievers.

Gluten allergy or sensitivity is similar to Celiac disease with the main difference being that Gluten sensitivity does not permanently damage your intestines. However, Gluten sensitivity does enflame your intestines and cause irritation. When you take an anti-inflammatory or pain reliever it “increases intestinal permeability allowing for [food particles] to access the immune system…” If you already have intestinal irritation stemmed from a Gluten sensitivity, taking anti-inflammatories and pain relievers such as ibuprofen will only worsen your symptoms.

Mary-Kate talked about her Gluten allergy and Dairy allergy in her testimonial video.

“… I can’t use Ibuprofen or anything like that… I’ve used Iron Maiden… and it actually does help with everything. It’s very calming and just helps with the cramps [from PMS] because I can’t use the alternative.”

You Can Dress Her Up But…

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the exclusive Grand Opening of the stunning bridal salon, IN WHITE located in Agawam, MA this past  Tuesday night.  The Lancaster, PA company purchased the locally-owned Bancroft Bridal last month, renovated and renamed the business to match its sister store.

This night was a little bittersweet for me because Bancroft Bridal is where I said yes to the dress, 15 years ago.

An extra special perk at the party was that I got to re-introduce myself to the woman who helped me find my gown!  Kristin was in her first year of bridal consultancy back then, and here she is, years of management under her veil now – and will continue as the Manager of In White.

It’s really fabulous to see someone who understands great customer service and wants all her clients to have a phenomenal experience at her shop, still shining and loving what she does!

The epic pictures of me of the event were taken by award-winning Seth Kaye Photography (who was recently named one of the Top 50 Photographers in the USA!)

Here I am captured with my partner in crime for the evening, Tanya Costigan of Bowties & Butterflies Event Planning

I FOUND THE GOWN! This dress jacked my boobs up so much I could practically motorboat myself. The dress itself was stunning!

EDIT: I should add a picture of my real gown that I wore 15 years ago with my handsome groom:

Social Spa trends

“It used to be that people went to spas to get away from it all and from each other. In recent years however spas have evolved to also cater to more social clients and serve as more common venues for bachelorette parties, book clubs and other get -togethers.”

Looks like Skin Catering is spot on with its trends.

Livin’ In The Hall of Fame

On September 26th, 2013 the leading ladies of Western Massachusetts banded together for our Winners Photo-shoot that will be featured in the October issue of the Western Massachusetts Women’s Magazine.

You remember my Karen’s Angels video compadres right? Karen Boyd of Mix 931, and Meghan Rothschild & Emily Gaylord of Chikmedia.

Well Karen, myself, and Emily all won for our categories (we’re putting all our efforts into votes for Meghan next year!) so we Harlem-Globe-Trotted down to the Basketball Hall of Fame, in Springfield MA and got our professional pics taken.

After our group photo we had to wait for individual head shots to be done … What’s that saying about idle hands?

With so many props around us, it was difficult to behave…

Gasp!

After our individual photos were done, we found our way over to The Colony Club in downtown Springfield, MA where we were treated to champagne, shrimp cocktail, and a gourmet cheese platter, to celebrate our success!

And of course, no evening celebration would be complete without a belly dancing lesson from Emily!

Thank you again, everyone who voted for us!  We appreciate it!

The awards dinner is on October 10, 2013. We’ll be sure to bring our cameras since we’ll be all dolled up.

The Happy Hour Show, Episode 1

My wellness industry friend, Krista Ross posted this quote:

“If you could choose one characteristic that would get you through life, choose a sense of humor.” – Jennifer Jones

I love this statement.

Our SkinCatering team is a personable, happy, and I’m thrilled to say – humorous, team!

Here we are with our second video ever, a series calledSkinCateringTV: The Happy Hour Show  – our version of The Late Show where we have special guests visit us for a chat (and some bevvies), and to play one of our fun games!

Karen Boyd of MIX 931 was the Celebrity for our first show, and the game is Spa Pictionary!

(We learned we need a bigger marker so you can play along with us at home!)
