Interview with Kim Brunton

Kim is SkinCatering®’s resident expert when it comes to skin. A licensed Aesthetician since 2002, she was at one time an Aesthetics Educator for a world renowned skin care company. After traveling all of the North Eastern United States as a leader in the industry, she finally found her home with SkinCatering®.

Everyone draws inspiration from somewhere, I asked Kim what inspired her to choose the Aesthetician/Skin Care field.

“My inspiration to be an aesthetician came after the birth of my 2nd child.  My face was a mess with cystic acne and I had a series of 6 glycolic treatments which resulted in clean, clear skin without anymore cystic breakouts and, better yet, some education about how to keep my skin clear.”

What is her favorite part of what she does as an Aesthetician?

“My favorite part of  what I do is helping to boost a client’s confidence.”

For every career there is a highlight. For Kim, her highlight is really inspirational.

“The highlight of my career has generally been clearing teen skin. When my teen clients get to come off Proactive and use SkinCatering®’s natural, healthy products is truly what drives me in this business.”

Maybe you didn’t know but Kim hasn’t always been a part of the SkinCatering® Team. I asked her what made her decide to ‘hop on board’ so to speak.

“Hopping on board with SkinCatering® was really a easy decision. Being a formulator and creating my own recipes for an all natural skin care line is a dream come true!!! Aesthetics is my dream job and the fact that I can be part of a growing business has been more than I could ever imagine, or ask for.”

Not only did Kim ‘hop on board’ this amazing train that is SkinCatering®, she is a partner! I asked her how she would describe her role as partner at SkinCatering®.

“I am the Chief Formulator of our product line and I keep Leanne AKA “Shirley” in line. I “dream up” the product in my head or look for an answer to my client’s specific skin care needs. With ingredients and texture in mind, I then give the information to Leanne, and she makes it happen. We work cohesively as a one without leaving out the fun.”

Laverne & Shirley aka Kim & Leanne

With all the fun Leanne & Kim have together at SkinCatering®, I wanted to know what she enjoys the most.

“What I most enjoy about SkinCatering® is that it’s ours. Leanne and I have built a business that grows every day in many ways. We work hard to make our clients feel and look better, and we know that the clients truly appreciate us.”

And finally, every business grows and expands and so does every individual in his or her career. What are Kim’s hopes or aspirations for the future of SkinCatering®?

“Hopes and dreams ? I hope that we can spread our SkinCatering® word throughout Springfield, and Western Mass. I would really love to be the top spa in Western Mass.”

Teen with Severe Gluten Allergy uses THIS for Pain Relief

For 15 year old Mary-Kate, her Gluten allergy prevents her from being able to use pain relievers such as Ibuprofen when she experiences pain and cramps from Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Looking for a Gluten free product safe for her to use to relieve her cramps and other symptoms, Mary-Kate turned to SkinCatering’s all-natural SkinCare product, ‘Iron Maiden‘.

According to the Mayo Clinic, more than 3 Million people in the United States alone are told they have a Gluten allergy each year. This is an allergy that is not curable and can last a life-time. You really don’t realize how many things you consume or use each and every day that contain Gluten until you can no longer consume it. There are also substances that may make symptoms of Gluten intolerance worse, such as anti-inflammatories and pain relievers.

Gluten allergy or sensitivity is similar to Celiac disease with the main difference being that Gluten sensitivity does not permanently damage your intestines. However, Gluten sensitivity does enflame your intestines and cause irritation. When you take an anti-inflammatory or pain reliever it “increases intestinal permeability allowing for [food particles] to access the immune system…” If you already have intestinal irritation stemmed from a Gluten sensitivity, taking anti-inflammatories and pain relievers such as ibuprofen will only worsen your symptoms.

Mary-Kate talked about her Gluten allergy and Dairy allergy in her testimonial video.

“… I can’t use Ibuprofen or anything like that… I’ve used Iron Maiden… and it actually does help with everything. It’s very calming and just helps with the cramps [from PMS] because I can’t use the alternative.”

Have you found yourself in the same situation as Mary-Kate and are still searching for alternative relief? You can find ‘Iron Maiden’ here. SkinCatering SkinCare ships internationally so don’t fret if you aren’t in the United States! Everyone can have access to our amazing SkinCare alternatives!

WHY ARE WE HAVING A PARTY ANYWAY???

One of our Ambassadors, Angela Lussier said it best:

“The only way we are going to rebuild Springfield is if we do it together. Entrepreneurs helping entrepreneurs. We need small donations in order to make a big impact with a small local business looking to grow. If you believe in the spirit of entrepreneurship in Western Massachusetts, come to this event and show us your solidarity. We must work together!

Leanne Sedlak, owner of SkinCatering spa in South Hadley and Springfield has a line of skincare that is blowing up! She needs a small amount of seed funding in order to make more products.

She has so many friends and people she has been helping in the community along the way and now she needs your help. Come to this event and help Leanne reach her goal of $3500 so she can take her business to the next level.

It’s a small investment and will make a huge impact! You can watch her grow on Facebook Twitter and at her website.”

Oh The Places You Will Go: 30+ Interesting facts about Springfield, Mass

Interesting Fact Number 1:

  • SkinCatering is opening it’s 2nd location in Springfield, MA in November 2013!

Yes, you read that correctly! My team and I have the honor of supporting, and caring for, the busy people of Springfield, Massachusetts.

So where will we be exactly?

Tower Square is the name of this special building that will house our 1600 square foot spa & skincare operation.

It’s located in the heart of downtown Springfield at 1500 Main Street.  Attached to the Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, and Mass Mutual, Tower Square has a 3 level parking garage, food court, restaurant (Currents), private dining club (The Colony Club), sports bar (Champions) and best of all…it’s within walking distance for most of our existing clientele that work in the area!

I have a special love of Springfield, as this is where my grandparents were born and raised.

My grandma Shirley worked at the very first Friendly’s Ice Cream restaurant! She made the best Root Beer Floats when I was little.

While I grew up in Canada and visited Hampden County almost every summer, I’ve spent a lot of time here in the 16 years I’ve lived in the Pioneer Valley.  True to it’s historic reputation for innovative progress, I’ve pleasantly watched as positive changes have been made by people embracing the Revitalization of Springfield.  I am thrilled to be a part of it!

Before work, on your lunch break, or after work, you can schedule a full appointment or an express session at a time that fits your busy schedule.

Here are some great pictures of our second location:
